Here is our beautiful Family here in Colorado.
We moved from Indianapolis Indiana to Colorado in 2019.
Soon after, during the pandemic, I so gratefully found Kaiut Yoga.
After my 4th Kaiut Yoga class, I was hooked and signed up for the up-coming, first ever, online teacher training with Francisco Kaiut.
This was life changing!
I practiced 2-3 hours each day, avoiding all other forms of movement or styles of yoga and I was thrilled with the results in my mind and body and the inspiration and vision I was receiving..
I found my health insurance, inspiration, life path, community and vision all at once.
Currently, I teach in Boulder Colorado, and online.
I plan to be teaching this method to whomever I can reach across the globe, and to practice this method for life.
A little movement history....
I've practiced, taught, and explored many styles of yoga and movement practices in the past 25 years. I dove deep into the practice of vinyasa/ Iyanger/Anusara yoga when I lived in the Hudson Valley, NY. In 2004 I was certified well grounded in the practice of precision, focus and strength.
A few years later, when I was struggling with Lyme Disease, I found Meridian Yoga. This style was appealing because we used resistance in the poses, which felt great to my flexy, unstructured body, and I found relief from the feedback the resistance gave me. I began to practice more restorative and therapeutic practices as well because the Vinyasa approach was beginning to cause low back pain and I felt exhausted often after practicing.
At that time I managed 75 acres of trails along the Appalachian trail and the landscape of Manitoga ( The Russell Wright design center ).
I spent many hours weeding invasive species and practicing yoga in the "moss rooms", building fires in the wigwam, directing summer interns and campers through the woods as we "designed with nature". I led tours through the historic home and trails. I was deeply inspired and impacted by this time in my life where I got to experience yoga, nature, quiet, art and dance! I lived at Kripalu, in Western Mass for a few months where I was exposed to a variety of movement arts and I helped in the production of workshops.
In my later 20s I lived off the grid near Ashland Oregon. I studied massage therapy and helped with homesteading on some friends land in the mountains. I enjoyed practicing the art of contact Improv and found myself at the yoga classes with mostly retired women. I needed an approach that helped me find restrictions in my overly stretched, hurting body and I needed a different rhythm to my practice.
It was during this time that I met my next teacher Angie, founder of Kentro body balance.
Angie embodied a way of being that I had to understand and was drawn to be around. I realize now that it was her rhythm in life that impacted me most. She expressed the beauty and ease that we are designed to enjoy by comparing less industrialized peoples to us western folk. It became obvious and sad to me how people are suffering and missing the beautiful moments of life because our modern way of life is hurting our bodies!
Angie expressed the ease that we were designed to enjoy in all movements of life and the posture and attitude of gratitude.
After all these years I feel relieved to have found a style of Yoga that is appropriate for all people.
I'm fulfilling my calling to preach and teach the gift of Kaiut Yoga.
